NORDAVIA was established by a pilot, Helmut Heidemann, in 1976 as a registered and licensed airline company. Business began with one company-owned aircraft which was used for flights for small groups and for express freight. Urgent flights carrying organs for transplant and flights for the transport of hazardous materials and replacement parts soon also formed part of the business. In 1983 a special task carried out on behalf of the aid organisation “Cap Anamur” drew world-wide attention: the hazardous search for Vietnamese “boat people” in the South China Sea. This involved the use of an aircraft which had been specially converted for the purpose.

Larger and larger tasks followed. Soon the company found itself unable to carry these out with its own aircraft. In order to be able to continue to meet the demands of its growing number of customers NORDAVIA had to charter larger aircraft from international airline companies. This led it to become Germany’s first air charter broker. The development eventually led to the competent brokering of aircraft of all sizes and configurations for a very wide range of tasks. Today we mainly carry out ad hoc charter flights for group travel using the newest aircraft, from business jets to wide-body jets.
